Our four key foundations

It takes a huge range of talents to bring an eLearning project to life. Our four foundations make sure that at every stage the whole team works together to create a great learning experience.

Cooking up the eLearning

Expert instructional design

People learn best through an experience, not just by absorbing information. We’ll provide that experience, focusing on what your learners actually need to do. The results: improved job performance. Real world, interactive scenarios will get your learners there faster. Games, stories, challenges, characters – will all make your courses come alive. But most importantly, all our design is based on thorough analysis and sound adult learning principles.

Super use of media

‘A picture is worth a thousand words’. An old saying, but so true. Research shows that great visuals communicate messages faster than words, and engage viewers on an emotional level. Visuals help understanding and make any content much more memorable, long-term. All good benefits for eLearning! On the flip side, pictures that are obviously stock photos or lacking in imagination can turn people off in a heartbeat. We have visual gurus who can make our words come to life through compelling images and captivating animations and videos.

Clock work - It just works

Development skills

You won’t need to worry about the ‘nuts and bolts’, because we have all the technical skills to ensure smooth rollout. We:

  • Use the development tools of your choice; examples are Lectora, Articulate Storyline and 360, Captivate, HTML5
  • Design for use on desktop, tablet or smartphone (this is also known as ‘responsive design’)
  • Comply with WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards, to AA level
  • Will ensure your SCORM course runs on your LMS.

Telephone - Always able to chat

Some of our great custom made courses

Our custom made courses are a collaborative effort with the client. Here’s a small selection of projects to give you a taste of the delights we’ve cooked up. Select each one to see more images

BaptistCare

Openlearn developed six sales skills modules for BaptistCare. We created immersive scenarios and a storyline with a range of media e.g. custom video and photos, infographics and animations. They were developed for multi devices, and are W.C.A.G. accessible to AA level.

Transport for NSW

Openlearn designed 10 ‘bite-sized’ eLearning modules for Transport for New South Wales to introduce a control system. The design is very visual and crisp, and we made complex concepts as simple and graphical as possible.

The City Of Sydney

Openlearn designed an award winning Record Management eLearning module for City of Sydney staff. We recommended including a game (building a park in the fictional City of Urbanville) to enliven the subject, engage the learner, and combat eLearning fatigue at the City.

Winner of  the Platinum Award at Learn-X 2017 for best game eLearning module.

National Disability Services
Induction for Care Workers’

It was essential that our 12 eLearning modules for NDS comply with WCAG 2.0 accessibility requirements to AA level. The modules are for the general public, and we ensured they were media rich, interactive and motivating. They all ‘respond’ to the learner’s device of choice. Content is displayed differently on the phone version.

AITD Winner - Highly Commended award.

Australian Electoral Commission

Openlearn designed a Cultural Appreciation eLearning module for all AEC staff, to identify Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural beliefs and practices, and suggest verbal and non-verbal skills to use when communicating with these communities. The visual display is beautiful and compelling.

Northern Territory Government

Openlearn designed two modules for the NTG on Merit Based Recruitment. We decided that the visual style should be a ‘cartoon’ style, as we needed to cover a range of ethnicities, ages and people including indigenous peoples.

"I made the correct decision in choosing your company over the other contenders. You delivered a good product with a lot of your own insights, artistry and coordinating skills into the package.”
